Nintendo Game Boy Advance

The Game Boy Advance was released in the year 2001 in Japan. The gaming resolution of this portable gaming console is 32 bit. It uses cartridges to play games and its power source of this gaming console is two AA size batteries.

Game Boy Advance SP

In early 2003 Nintendo launched the new and advance Game Boy Advance SP. It is in the shape of a pocket size laptop and it was an upgrade of the previous Game Boy Advance.

Game Boy Micro

In 2005 Nintendo launched a new redesign of the Game Boy Advance which is called Game Boy Micro. Game boy Micro was not a very successful portable gaming console by Nintendo.

Play Station

The PlayStation is the first gaming console of the Play Station series. This great gaming console was first released in Japan in late 1994. It became the first gaming console whose 100 millions units were sold. When the successors of the PlayStation namely PS2, PSP and PS3 were launched Sony planned to stop the production of PlayStation and its production was stopped in March 2006.

Nintendo GameCube

This was the first gaming console to use optical disks as its primary storage media. It was launched to compete with Sony’s PS2 and Microsoft Xbox. It was first launched in 2001 in Japan. It has the connectivity feature to connect with the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. The production of this gaming console was stopped in 2007.

Play Station 2

This great non-portable gaming console was launched in late 200 in Japan at first. The time when it was launched it was a competitor to Microsoft’s Xbox and Nintendo GameCube. PS2 is the record holder for being the best-selling gaming console ever. Over 138 million units of PS2 have been sold till date in the whole world.

Nintendo DS

This Great gaming console has been launched by Nintendo. This console was released in 2004. It was at first released in countries like Japan and USA. It is a touch screen dual screen portable gaming console. A user can play cartridges of the previously launched Nintendo gaming console called Game Boy Advance SP. It is compatible to play the special Nintendo DS cartridges as well.

Nintendo DS Lite

Two years later after the launch of Nintendo DS the new Nintendo DS Lite was launched. It was at first launched in North America and parts of Europe.

Xbox

This great gaming console is a creation of the world renowned Microsoft. It is a non-portable gaming console which can be carried from one place to the other. It was launched by Microsoft to give stiff competition to Sony’s Play Station 2. It was at first launched in 2001 in USA.

Xbox 360

Xbox 360 was launched by Microsoft in late 2005. Once this console was launched the production of the original Xbox was stopped. Microsoft upgraded the Xbox and the new Xbox 360 was better than the original Xbox in every sense which included gaming, audio and video.

PSP

The Sony Play Station Portable or better known as PSP was launched by Sony corporation in Japan in the end of 2004. It was revealed to the whole world by the end of 2005. This PSP which was launched in late 2004 was known as the “PSP Fat” model. It has the ability to play music, movie, games, photos and browse the internet wirelessly.

PSP Slim & Lite

The upgraded veriosn of the original PSP was launched in the early September. It was called as “PSP Slim & Lite”. This new version of the original PSP was much lighter and also much slimmer than the original PSP Fat.

PSP Go

This is the latest version of PSP. It was released in October 2009. It is much more different from the previous PSP versions. The new PSP Go has an internal memory of 16GB and it is also in a slider shape unlike the previous versions of PSP.

Play Station 3

Play Station 3 is the third hand handheld non portable gaming console which has been launched by Sony. This gaming console was launched to compete with Xbox 360 of Microsoft and Wii of Nintendo. PS3 as it is called has several great features like the compatibility to use Blue ray discs and high definition discs plus it also has the a connectivity feature with the previously launched PSP. it was released in Japan in late 2006.

PlayStation 3 Slim

The latest and better built PS3 Slim was praised all around the world when it was released because of its amazing Blue ray disc compatibility features and also the 120GB hard disk. The new PS3 Slim had several changes from the previous versions like the font color of the new PS3 Slim was changed plus the logo was also changed.

Wii

Wii has been launched by Nintendo to compete with the new Sony PS3 and the Nintendo Xbox 360. It is right now the most selling gaming console among the 3 consoles. Nintendo Wii was launched in late 2006. The most amazing feature of the new Wii is its remote which can detect motion and can also be used as a pointing device for playing games. The new Wii also has the connectivity feature with the Nintendo DS without any extra accessory.
