Article by Computer desk at the right price
I had always wanted to work for myself. When I was made redundant – I’m just 34 – it was a great opportunity to go it alone. I guess I’d never had the nerve before. I’m a copywriter, and my wife – Susie – she’s a nurse. We don’t have any children yet, but plan to soon. I knew I had the contacts to set up a few leads, and was surprised at how quickly it all came about. Now it’s on my letterheads – ‘John Jones – Copywriter’. My mother is so proud of me! Secretly, I am very proud of me, too!
Equipping an office came after deciding where to put it. We have an old summer house at the bottom of the garden – a quick lick of paint, some new glass in the windows and it was perfect! The major problem was in buying the right furniture – and at the right price. There proved to be a lot to choose from, especially when we got looking at the computer desk for sale section! I wanted a pretty decent desk, and got one, too!
I had thought of an oak computer desk as the most likely option and found some very nice designs under that title; I wasn’t sure, though, that a modern office in a summerhouse would suit such an object! I found a company – Sauder computer desks – that had some nice, if rather expensive models, and the idea of computer desks with hutch attachments also meant space saving. The one I settled on, however, was a solid wood computer desk, a great design that looks stylish and model with a floating glass top, and that cost under $ 220! My office now looks very much the business!
Susie likes me working at home as it means I can be in when she comes in tired late at night. She rings me and I run her a bath, and she relaxes with a glass of wine while I read her the day’s news. Working down the garden means I’m not disturbed, either. It’s a great set up all round and one that is really paying dividends. The way things are going I’m going to have to take on a secretary soon – now that would mean I’ve really made it!
