Alright, I’ll keep this semi-short since there are plenty of good reviews for the PS3 Consoles . I’ve personally, as of now, owned all consoles of this current generation.
Wii – Great fun for the first few months, I sold it because I just couldn’t find any more enjoyment out of it. It’s great for families, but for an average 20-something with nothing to do there isn’t a whole lot going for it.
XBox 360 – I have to admit I loved a lot of the XBox exclusives that are available and XBox Live is definitely ahead of the game as far as DLC and media are concerned.
However, the hardware is barely sub-par. I went through 3 cycles of the infamous ‘red ring of death’ on the same system. The quality of the hardware should exceed the quality of the software in all respects to give the customer a sense of pride in what they’re purchasing. No BD playback. Pay-to-play/communicate with other users. Constant battery replacements without built-in rechargables. The list goes on and on.
Finally, with warranty money from my XBox 360 and Amazon trade-in gift cards from my games I went with the console I should’ve bought 3 years ago – The PS3 Consoles .
I’ve only played a few games thus far, but they all appear staggeringly better defined on BD as opposed to the standard DVD format that is currently being used by the other guys. I’m not a big fan of ‘Playstation Home’, but I understand it’s currently in beta. Also the PSN has a lot to make up for, but it’s free. Controllers are rechargeable via USB and have a better feel, in my opinion, than the XBox 360 controller. The PS3 Consoles also has built-in wifi, not a proprietary accessory. BD playback, Netflix streaming, better hardware, and increasing better software. So far it’s been a win-win with my PS3 Consoles.
PS3 Consoles – All I Can Say is Wow!
I got this PS3 Consoles for Christmas to go along with my Sony Bravia surround sound system and my Samsung HD LCD full 1080P television 37 inch. I had been waiting for almost 4 months for this! And all I can say is WOW! Full 1080P high definition output, great games (I have Madden NFL 10, NBA Live 10, Assassin’s Creed II, DC vs Mortal Kombat, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, and X-Men Origins), great sound, sleek design, great everything! I was able to hookup wirelessly to the internet with my second DSL modem. That’s right! It has internet too! It will scan the available networks for you, all you need is the pass code.
The wireless controllers are awesome! You can turn this thing on and off with them. Games are easy to put in and take out. And the blu-ray player? Wow! Simply amazing! It plays blu-rays in full 1080P and will upconvert standard DVDs in full 1080P as well! It can hold videos, photos, music, everything! It’s so easy to configure different settings to your personal taste (audio, video, etc.)
You will only want to play this on a full HD television (1080P) via HDMI. A surround sound system brings this thing to life! When I play NBA Live 10, the bounce of the ball on the court is so life like, it was almost as if I were there! The gunshots are real and life-like too! What a Christmas gift!!!!!!
