Computer Viruses – Learn How to Keep Your Computer Safe

Article by Peter O’Brien

A virus is computer code that somehow finds its way into your computer without your knowledge. It interacts with your computer’s operating system and memory and does troublseome things in your computer, often without your knowledge. Most people don’t even know they have been infected by a virus until, all of a sudden, their computer slows down to a crawl or doesn’t work at all. This happens when the virus is using all the available memory that used to be used to run your programs. Severe viruses can destroy hard drives, ruin software programs, delete important files, steal your identity and cost the victim a great deal of money and time. Some viruses can, all by themselves, move throughout networks and sneak by security systems. Viruses are very bad and need to be kept out of your computer. It seems the first virus appeared when the Internet was just beginning and only used by the Department of Defense and several universities. Since then they have become much more sophisticated and even more dangerous. All viruses are made by human beings and, sadly, there are lots of bad guys out there that make them either for profit (as a way to attach itself to programs into your computer and then copy every keystroke you make, including your credit card information) or because they are sick puppies with way too much time on their hands.

Computer Fan Increasing Performance

Cooling fans for greater CPU performance Cooling fans for greater CPU performance So you’ve reformatted your hard drive, you’ve downloaded some anti-virus software and your computer checks out clean, you’ve shut down all the peripheral programs that you don’t really need to be running, you’ve added a ton of RAM, you’ve cleaned your computer out, so to speak, and it’s still running along at a snail’s crawl. You’re getting single digit frames per second for media and gaming, you freeze up whenever you open more than a couple windows at a time, and you have no idea what the heck is going on.

Oftentimes, slow computer performance has nothing to do with the software running on your PC or Mac, it has nothing to do with how much RAM you have or viruses or anything like that. Sometimes it’s a much more practical issue: over heating.

Data Recovery Hardware

Owning a computer is one thing and repair and maintenance is another. Usually, these technical machines do not require too much human attention. All the same, they can become quite troublesome if they develop hard drive mechanical problems. Many computer users and technicians recognize how complicated harddrives are. First, it is difficult to understand their craftsmanship. They have quite a few moving parts and a circuit board. If HD abruptly fails, help with data recovery hardware is inevitable.
