The Best Hardware For Your Server

To answer all of this we first have to figure out what the server is going to be used for. Uses For The Server Console Switch

A multi-user network requires a server console switch to monitor and control different computers on the network. This allows the administrator to manage the network from a single location. Most businesses with secure networks employ this type of hardware. There are many applications for a server console switch from major business network administration to home automation.

The server console switch is basically a box with ports for different hardware input. It is used with a secure console server to control other computers on a network from a remote location. The input ports on the switch are for the video, keyboard, and mouse as well as ports for each network terminal. The user attaches a monitor and input devices to the console switch then uses these to monitor and manipulate any other computer that is hooked into the network. This allows an IT manager to make changes for another user without having to go to that person’s office. In the cases of large companies with multiple offices, this is a necessity so that the IT section can work without needing to run all over a building or drive to different locations. Another common business application is in restaurants where the staff can type orders into various computer stations, which will relay them to a central terminal. This type of use can be applied to much retail business, as well. There is no limit to its uses.

If data security is a concern, or if sensitive information is stored on the network, then the user should opt for secure console servers. Although they essentially function in the same manner as an unsecured console server, they also restrict access to data and documents that an administrator deems confidential. Naturally, a secure console server is more expensive, with lower-end models costing 0-300, and higher end models exceeding 00.

Allowing a client to connect to just any wireless network might expose the client to wireless attacks from other participants. Allowing automatic connection might mean that the client connects to a network without the user’s knowledge. The user might think her network is not accessible by attackers when the network cable is unplugged, but because of this feature, the user might actually be connected and under attack without knowing it.
Adding Preferred Networks Adding preferred networks to the policy provides clients with preconfigured settings that will enable them to automatically connect to approved APs. Client configurations for approved networks are configured by using the Add button on the Preferred Networks tab.

AP settings for 802.Ix wireless network connections are configured on the~ Network Properties and IEEE 802.Ix tabs. The Network Properties tab (shown in Figure 12-10) should include the SSID. Follow these guidelines regarding the checkboxes:
